Owego Strawberry Festival This Weekend

The 36th annual Owego Strawberry festival officially kicks off tonight. The annual festival which draws thousands of visitors to downtown Owego will begin with the Friday Night Block Party. The Block Party will begin at 5pm with the Miss Strawberry Pageant at the Court House Square. There will also be multiple concerts at two locations tonight. Rare Breed and The Spelunkers will take the stage at Ahwaga Park at the corner of Front and Church Streets. Also, Making the Band and the Woodshed Prophets will take to the stage in the Court House Lawn. A fireworks display will be held over the Susquehanna River at 9:30. In addition, there will be wandering entertainment by Nate the Great Juggler, as well as food vendors.

Then tomorrow, Strawberry Festival entertainment will continue with a parade, beginning at 10am. WEBO’s Dave Radigan and Lew Sauerbrey will be the official announcers at the parade.

Performances continue throughout the day tomorrow with eight concerts, a puppet show and more. These performances will take place at multiple venues throughout downtown Owego, including the Courthouse Square, Courthouse Lawn, Ahwaga Park, and at the intersection of Lake and Main Streets.

Free parking is available for the event at Marvin Park across from Price Chopper in Owego, and Hickories Park. A free shuttle will run throughout the day.
