Owego Village Board Proposes 10% Reduction in Spending

The Village of Owego Board has proposed setting the village’s annual budget at $2,880,000, a 10% reduction in spending levels from last year.
Owego Citizens Party Trustees who voted for the measure were Tom Clark (1st Ward), Earl Hartman (2nd Ward), Jim Legursky (2nd Ward), Ann Lockwood (3rd Ward), and Doug Worden (3rd Ward).
Oak Tree Party Trustee Kevin Millar (1st Ward) also voted for the measure with Mayor Ed Arrington the lone no vote.
The measure sets in motion the FY 2011-2012 budget process for the village.
Trustees plan to work with the mayor and department heads in developing a final and workable budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Public meetings and hearings on the budget will be held by the board during this process.
