A Rockland County military contractor has agreed to pay 1.9 million dollars to settle a lawsuit initiated by an Owego woman. Sharon McKinney, a former contracting officer at DHS Technologies, initiated the lawsuit under the provision of the False Claims Act. The lawsuit accused DHS Technologies, a global provider of quick-strike mobile infrastructure systems and accompanying support equipment, and its top managers of submitting false bidding and billing documents to the General Services Administration related to the company’s deployable rapid-assembly shelters, parts, supplies and related services. The case was originally filed in 2011. As part of the settlement, McKinney will receive a 19 percent share of all recoveries obtained by the government.
