A portion of Route 17 West in Tioga County was closed for nearly 8 hours Sunday after a tractor-trailer crash.
The 18-wheeler ran off the road just past the Apalachin exit, destroying several feet of guardrail.
The driver was not injured. His tractor-trailer had to be lifted from the ditch it ended up in, between the highway and the Susquehanna River.
To do that and repair the guardrail, the highway was closed between Apalachin and Owego for most of Sunday. It finally reopened just before 5:30pm.
Troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
The Apalachin Fire Department was at the scene.
