One local student received the Student Community Service Award and a $1000 scholarship for his work in Owego. The program was started by State Senator Tom Libous in partnership with Broome-Tioga BOCES. Scott Gardner has spent countless hours helping in the community. Scott is a member of the Interact club, he recently helped an elderly couple with Spring clean up, and tutors at the Owego Boys and Girls Club. Scott also started a handball tournament to raise money for snacks during tutoring. He recently was able to present a check of $270 to the Boys and Girls Club. Gardner will use this scholarship money toward an education at SUNY Broome where he will major in engineering science.
