After several months of uncertainty, the decision was made Friday to close the doors of Saint Patrick’s School in Owego, following the conclusion of this academic year. Saint Patrick’s School has been in the Owego community for more than 150 years. However, decreasing enrollment and increasing operating costs has left the school with no other choice. School administrators are doing their best to concentrate on helping families of students find the best possible school for their child. In an official press release, Rochester Diocese Bishop Salvatore Matano took the opportunity to encourage the passage of the State Education Investment Tax Credit proposal, which is designed to help families more easily afford Catholic and other private schools. Saint Patrick’s School in Owego will close its doors in June with a final enrollment of 58 students enrolled in grades K through 6th.
