SHARE NOW

A local author and stem cell transplant advocate has lost her battle with cancer.
Carol Franz of Owego passed away Thursday. She was 68 years old.
Carol lived most of her life in Owego and became a staunch advocate of stem cell research after receiving transplants of adult stem cells into her own body. That advocacy included a chance to meet President George W. Bush at the White House in 2007.
Carol is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bill, as well as their three children, four grandchildren, a sister and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday from 4 to 7pm at the Estey, Munroe and Fahey Funeral Home on Park Street in Owego. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held there on Tuesday.
