The Tioga County Legislature is pleased to announce that for the first time ever, Tioga County will be hosting a Regional Economic Development Council meeting. The June meeting for the Regional Economic Development Council will be held at the Owego Treadway Inn and Conference Center on Thursday, June 26th from noon to one o’clock. The meeting will be sponsored by the Tioga County Industrial Development Agency and the public is welcome to attend. In 2011, Governor Andrew Cuomo created ten regional councils to develop long-term strategic plans for economic growth in their regions. These councils are public-private partnerships made of local experts in business, education, and government. The Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council covers the area spanning from Steuben County in the west to Delaware County in the east, with Tioga, Broome, Chemung, Tompkins, Schuyler, and Chenango counties all included.
