Tourney Wins for U-E & Vestal Basketball, OFA and VHS Wrestling

The Owego boys’ basketball team finished second in a tournament at Norwich this weekend, falling to the Purple Tornado by 15 points in Saturday’s Championship Game. The two teams will play again this Friday at OFA in a game that will be broadcast live on WEBO.
The Union-Endicott boys won their own tournament, beating Sidney 69-59 in the title game. Maine-Endwell dismantled Windsor in the consolation game.
The Vestal boys won the Saratoga Springs Tip-Off Tournament.
In girls’ basketball…Owego started their season with a loss at Harpursville on Friday. Brittany Rando had 10 points for the Indians.
In wrestling…
Owego won Saturday’s Newark Valley Invitational, finishing 13.5 points ahead of the hosts in the 12-team tournament. Craig Luffman and James Merritt won championships for the Indians while Chad Rose was victorious for Candor.
Vestal had four individual champions as they won the Saber Invitational at Susquehanna Valley.
