Village of Owego residents went to the polls Tuesday to vote on two propositions put up by the Village Board for referendum.
One would abolish the Village Justice Court and transfer their responsibilities to the Town of Owego, while the second proposal would make the Clerk/Treasurer appointed by the mayor rather than elected by the people.
The Village of Owego voters voted down BOTH propositions on the ballot.
Only the clerk/treasurer change necessitated a mandatory referendum, but trustees elected ON June 22nd, to let village voters decide on both changes.
