Edmund Haart, 46, of Waverly was arrested Thursday on accusations that he assaulted his girlfriend and held her against her will.
Haart was charged with felony strangulation, misdemeanor assault, and misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment.
He is accused of strangling the girlfriend, causing her to almost lose consciousness 3 times.
He is also accused of punching and kicking her., as well as “biting” her 17 times.
The victim was transported from the scene for medical treatment.
Haart was arraigned in the Village of Waverly Justice Court and held on bail to await further court action.
He was sent to the Tioga County Jail in Owego.
Bail was listed as $10,000.00.
