A Sayre woman is facing several charges after she allegedly resisted arrest and threatened to kill police officers during a DWI arrest earlier this month.
According to Waverly Police, 22-year-old Janie L. Smith was arrested for felony terroristic threats, misdemeanor DWI, obstruction of governmental administration and harassment following an investigation into a hit-and-run accident that occurred at the Valley Bowling Center on Jan. 11.
Waverly Police responded to the area to investigate the hit-and-run and located the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot of the Waverly Dandy Mini Mart on Chemung Street.
Smith was arrested at 11:53 p.m. and transported to the Waverly Police Department.
During her arrest, she allegedly became verbally combative and yelled many homophobic and racial slurs at the arresting officers.
Waverly Police also said she made numerous threats to kill the arresting officers during the incident.
