Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard has officially announced his intention to seek re-election for the Office of Sheriff. The 57 year old Howard of Owego, began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in 1977, after serving honorably in the US Army as a Military Police Officer. Sheriff Howard explained why he felt it was important for him to run for another term.
Sheriff Howard Re-election
Before being elected as Tioga County Sheriff in 2003, Sheriff Howard worked as a Road Patrol Deputy and Patrol Sergeant. He also served as the supervisor of the Criminal Investigation Division for 20 years. He says that the 2 main things he has been the most proud of in his time as Sheriff have been the updated technology and education for everyone in the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Howard also serves as a board member with the New York State Sheriffs’ Institute, is Vice Chairman of the Tioga Opportunities Board of Directors and serves on the Leadership Tioga Board of Directors.
