On Friday, Officials at Spencer Van Etten High school were made aware of a claim that a student was planning to shoot up the school. The threat was made on Instagram and shared on Facebook.
An investigation by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police have concluded that there is no credibility to the threat. The investigation found that the threat was a result of a Wednesday incident. Some students overheard a conversation ona movie about a school shooting and the recent Florida shooting. The conversation led some to assume there was a threat to the school.
School authorities have announced that there will be a visible police presence at the school on Monday.
