Three charged in connection with stealing tobacco products from Nichols travel plaza

NICHOLS — The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division has arrested three individuals in connection with employee theft at the Onvo Travel Plaza located on Stanton Hill Road in Nichols.

The sheriff’s office has accused the suspects, who are former store employees, of stealing over $3,000 worth of tobacco products from the store from May 26 through June 3 of this year.

A 47-year-old Spencer woman has been charged with one count of falsifying business records in the first degree and one count of grand larceny in the fourth degree, both Class E felonies.

A 45-year-old Spencer woman has been charged with three counts of petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor, while a 44-year-old Ulster woman has been charged with one count of petit larceny.

Each defendant was issued an appearance ticket and released to appear in the Town of Nichols Court at a later date.
