Tioga County now ranks 27 out of 62 counties in New York State for Health Outcomes. Local officials call this a huge improvement from where the county ranked just last year…when it was labeled 40 out of 62 counties.
Health Rankings were established to help counties across the country know how they are performing with regard to health status and what influences residents’ health. Lisa McCafferty is the Director at Tioga County Public Health…she tells us there have been some notable improvements this past year. Decreases were seen in youth and adults who are without health insurance. There was also a decrease in teen birth rates.
