The New York State Gaming Commission is expected to make a decision on whether or not to award Tioga Downs with a casino license this Wednesday. Tioga Downs was not initially chosen by the board to receive a casino license earlier this year, but after receiving pressure from public officials, Governor Andrew Cuomo asked the board to reopen bidding for a casino in the Southern Tier. Tioga Downs was the only entity to apply. Owner Jeff Gural presented a revised proposal to the gaming commission last month. Since then, the gaming commission held a public hearing in Binghamton, during which residents had a chance to voice their opinions on the matter. The State Gaming Commission will be meeting in Manhattan on Wednesday at 2PM.
