The state’s Gaming Facility Location Board announced that they are recommending Tioga Downs for a full casino license. This new license will allow Tioga Downs to expand with more gaming options, such as blackjack, poker, and other table games. The expansion is expected to nearly double wages and salaries, add up to $12 million in state and local tax revenue, and create close to 1100 new jobs. Several local leaders across our area have expressed their excitement after the announcement. Martha Sauerbrey is the chair of the Tioga County Legislature noted that the announcement today means opportunity for our region and says that this is just the start for good things to come in our area. Gwen Kania, the President and CEO of the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce also commented, saying that this announcement will be great for the businesses of this area, and will help create more partnerships among businesses. Before concluding their meeting in Manhattan earlier today the Gaming Facility Location Board made a point to congratulate Tioga Downs and the people of the Southern Tier.
