Work has started on the $2 million Halsey Valley Road Elevation Project in Tioga. The project will raise a quarter-mile stretch of Halsey Valley Road two feet above the height of the floodwaters caused by Tropical Storm Lee. Construction between 17C and Allyn Road began earlier this month and will continue for the next three months. A detour is posted along Allyn Road and 5th Avenue routing traffic around the construction. The project will improve emergency access to town residents during a severe storm.
