Assemblyman Christopher S. Friend and Sen. Fred Akshar welcomed the Newark Valley High School Women’s Choir to the State Capitol on March 19 to celebrate ‘Music in Our Schools Month.’
(ALBANY) — The New York State School Music Association and the National Association for Music Education jointly coordinate numerous choirs, orchestras, bands and jazz ensembles from various schools throughout New York state to perform during ‘Music in Our Schools’ at the Empire Plaza in Albany.
“Music education is a valued part of a well-rounded education for New York’s students and we are happy to celebrate ‘Music in Our Schools Month’ with the Women’s Choir,” said Friend and Akshar.
“Music not only sparks creativity but studies show it has multiple benefits in developing learning, memory, analytical skills and more. We are happy to support music education in our schools and what it helps provide to our students,” they added.
