A family of three has been left with nothing after a fire destroyed their mobile home in the town of Tioga. The fire broke out at approximately 12 pm Saturday at West Whitcomb Hill Road. Tioga Center, Nichols, Waverly and Halsey Valley fire companies were called in for mutual aid. According to the Tioga Center fire chief, the blaze started when the homeowners attempted to thaw frozen water pipes underneath their trailer with a space heater. Within five minutes, the trailer was completely engulfed in flames. Officials said the biggest problem while fighting the fire was the clutter inside the trailer. According to the fire department, there was also a propane tank near the home which became too hot to move. Firefighters were able to keep it cool enough so it did not explode. The home is a complete loss and the Red Cross is now assisting the family.
