At approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, the Tompkins County 911 Center alerted the Newfield Fire Company of a two-car motor vehicle accident with injuries and possible entrapment near the intersection of Van Buskirk Gulf Road and Benjamin Hill Road.
First responders arrived to find three patients needing medical attention, two of which were still in a vehicle.
Crews used the jaws of life and popped a door to allow access to one patient. Newfield Firefighters and Bangs Ambulance providers extricated and moved two patients to awaiting ambulances.
A third patient had self-extricated from the other vehicle and was transported to a trauma center by a third Bangs Ambulance.
The first two patients were transported to a nearby landing zone and airlifted to a trauma center for further treatment.
The Newfield Fire Company was assisted on scene by Bangs Ambulance, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and Charlies Towing.
