Numerous friends and classmates of Victoria Cheng gathered Sunday at Muller Chapel on the Ithaca College campus to remember her and provide support to each other.
Cheng, 17, of Spencer New York, was found dead outside an off-campus residence at 12:40PM on Saturday.
According to Tompkins County Sheriff Ken Lansing, alcohol consumption appears to have played a part.
She was found in the snow by a local resident near 380 Pennsylvania Avenue close to the campus.
Although the death appears to be accidental, an investigation is ongoing.
The Tompkins County Sheriff is being assisted in their investigation by the New York State Police, Ithaca Police Department, and Ithaca College Office of Public Safety.
Cheng’s mother Sarah is a graduate of Ithaca College.
Her father Joseph is associate professor in the School of Business, and brother Joshua is a sophomore physics-engineering major.
Cheng was a 2010 graduate of Ithaca High School and was a member of the tennis team at Ithaca College.
She was a freshman biology major.
