The Waverly Central School District has finalized a grant application which will hopefully bring $1.1 Million to the district to make necessary technology upgrades. In a meeting yesterday, the Waverly School Board approved their application to receive money through New York’s Smart Schools Bond Act.
In their proposed plan, the Waverly School District would add high speed internet access to the Waverly Public Library and village hall, so all students can have access to the internet after school. Additionally, the district would use money to upgrade their network’s switches which have been identified as weak points in the district’s network. The school district also plans on using some of the money, if awarded, to upgrade school security.
The application will now head to New York State for review.
