Waverly man arrested following domestic violence incident

The Waverly Police Department has announced the arrest of a Waverly man following a domestic violence incident.

According to police, 40-year-old Mark J. Reekstin has been charged with felony strangulation in the second degree, felony criminal mischief in the second degree, and misdemeanor counts of assault in the second degree, criminal obstruction of breathing, menacing and endangering the welfare of a child.

Reekstin was arrested following an investigation into a reported assault and domestic disturbance which took place in the early morning hours on July 27th.

Police said the investigation revealed that Reekstin had also allegedly assaulted the victim in another recent domestic incident, which was not previously reported.

The suspect was arraigned in Tioga County CAP Court and held to await further legal action.
