The Waverly Police Department arrested a 77-year-old man who allegedly exposed himself to a 17-year-old girl near a school in the village on Thursday.
According to police, Eugene E. Elston was charged with public lewdness and exposure of a person following an investigation into the incident, which occurred at 5 p.m. on Thursday near the Lincoln Street Elementary School.
The suspect allegedly exposed himself first from the doorway area of his residence and then walked out of the house, following the victim towards the school.
The victim then entered the school and reported the incident to school staff, who immediately called Waverly Police.
Police investigated the report and then arrested Elston at his home without incident.
Elston was arraigned in Tioga County Court and released. An order of protection was granted to the victim.
Waverly School Officials were notified about the incident and are working cooperatively with the Waverly Police Department to assist in this incident and the continued efforts of the Waverly Central Schools for the safety of all students and staff.
