The Waverly-Barton Fire Department responded to a structure fire Saturday night. The call came in around 7 o’clock at 55 Route 34 in Waverly. The fire department arrived to a smoke filled structure, but was able to keep the fire to a room and contents. The Tioga County Fire Investigation team, along with the Tioga County Sheriff’s road patrol, determined the cause to be an electrical power supply. No one was injured, but the Red Cross is assisting the 5 family members who are temporarily displaced. The Waverly-Barton Fire Department was assisted on the scene by fire departments from Lockwood and Sayre, Penn Elec, Red Cross, and NYSDOT.
The fire took 20 firefighters about an hour to extinguish.
