NWS Issues Warnings for Minor Flooding

The National Weather Service in Binghamton New York has issued a Flood Warning for the Susquehanna River at Waverly/Sayre. The Warning is effective from this morning until late Saturday night. At 930 am Friday the stage was estimated at 12.7 feet. Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Forecast… the river is forecast to rise above flood stage by noon Friday and crest near 14.1 around 2 am Saturday. The river will fall below flood stage by 8 PM Saturday. Impact – At 13.0 feet flood stage, widespread, but minor flooding of The Lowlands occurs along the river from the towns of Barton and Nichols, NY to Athens Township, PA.

The NWS Flood Warning continues for the Susquehanna River at Vestal until Sunday evening. At 9 am Friday the stage was 19.0 feet. Flood stage is 18.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. The river will crest near 20.9 feet around 8 PM Friday. The river will fall below flood stage after 6 am Sunday.

Impact – At 20.5 feet, cellars flood on Argonne Drive in Endwell.
