Tioga Downs began their 12th season of horse racing on Saturday with their 10th annual Derby Fest. Warrawee Preferred driven by Jim Taggart, Jr. won the first race of the 2017 season on Saturday after passing Dragin the Wagon in the final stretch. Thousands of people attended the Derby Fest, many of them sporting hats like those seen at Saturday’s Kentucky Derby. Racing continued yesterday, with former track champion Jim Marohn, Jr. capturing the feature win with his horse Knocking Around. Racing will resume at the track next Friday at 6:50pm.
