Get your fancy hats and betting money ready because opening day of the harness racing season at Tioga Downs Racetrack and Casino is Saturday, May 7th.
Tuesday night, folks got to enjoy some rather “wet” but still entertaining qualifying races to get ready for Saturday’s big event. And News Radio WEBO will have a live broadcast on Mother’s Day this Sunday from 1-3 PM.
Organizers are expecting around 12-thousand people to attend opening day, not only to place their bets but to enjoy all the festivities that they say make Tioga Downs the place to be.
“We’re special because we continue to promote the industry,” said Jason Settlemoir, Vice President of Racing for American Racing Enterntainment.
“We continue to do daily promotions, have giveaways, do fireworks that draw people right here through our door. What also makes us so special here at Tioga Downs is that we appreciate the community and the support they have given us and we certainly appreciate what they have done for us heading into our 6th racing season that come out here. They support us all year long and we’re just grateful for that,” said Settlemoir.
For the month of May the live race nights will be Fridays and Saturdays at 6:50 pm and Sunday afternoons at 1:30pm.
This summer’s concert series will feature popular music acts like Spin Doctors, Salt-N-Pepa, Pat Benatar, and Wynonna.
