Authorities have arrested a Town of Tioga man after he failed to appear in court for his own trial where he was convicted of rape in November. 46-year-old Brian Smith was convicted of having sexual intercourse with an individual under the age of 15 last year. Since his conviction last month, Smith has been on the run. Thanks to an anonymous tip, authorities were able to locate Smith in the woods behind his home earlier this week. He is currently being held in the Tioga County Jail.
Authorities have also arrested 50-year-old Lori Chandler of Spencer for hindering a prosecution. Chandler has been issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Spencer Court at a later date.
