Tioga State Bank has announced that they are the major sponsor of Owego’s “Strawberry Shake” 5K Run and “The Shortcake” Kids 1 Mile Run being held during the Strawberry Festival weekend. The bank has given a $5,000 sponsorship to help assist the event organizers as they put together the run.
Last year the event had close to 600 participants and more are expected this year. Awards are given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers for both the male and female categories of the race. Partial proceeds from the race each year are donated to a local organization, and this year the Apalachin Youth Football Association will be receiving those funds.
