The award was given to Abby Badura, a runner and soccer player from Virginia, on Friday in New York City. The male winner was Rex Woodbury from Arizona.
For being named one of the 12 best high school student-athletes from out of 55,000 applicants, Kara received a Heisman patch and a $100 gift card to Wendy’s as well as an all-expenses paid trip to New York City. The Tioga High School will receive a $2,000 award in her name.
Kara is a three-sport athlete at Tioga, starring for the basketball, soccer and softball teams. She is the top-ranked student in the Class of 2011 and also serves as senior class president.
