A local Congressman-elect had to be hospitalized in Washington this weekend after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
Tom Reed was elected to represent the 29th Congressional District two weeks ago. The former Corning mayor was in Washington for his orientation when he suffered the embolism, which included blood clots in his leg. Reed is expected to make a full recovery.
His office says the congressman-elect is resting comfortably at the hospital and hopes to be released soon so he can be sworn in to the vacant seat.
