Two men are facing charges after police found items used to make methamphetamine in their backpack. 24-year-old William Apgar, of Brooktondale, and 25-year-old Christopher Merkley, of Ithaca, were arrested shortly after five o’clock Saturday morning.
The two men were reportedly spotted acting suspiciously on Floral Avenue in Ithaca when police stopped to talk to them. They then discovered that Apgar had two active warrants. He was taken into custody without incident. After being taken into custody, police found multiple items used to manufacture meth in Apgar’s backpack, and Merkley was found to be in possession of similar items. Apgar is facing multiple misdemeanors along with a felony count of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, a charge Merkley is facing as well.
