The Town of Union has pushed back a decision on their budget after neither of its two villages voted on a measure to merge their code enforcement departments with the town.
Endicott trustees did not vote on the issue Friday and Johnson City board members held off on a vote Tuesday.
The town says the inaction has forced them to calculate new figures that do not include a unified code department. Supervisor John Bernardo says it would be frustrating to see the effort fall apart at the last minute after it has been discussed for five years.
Union must have its budget in place by Saturday. Board members plan to meet again on Friday.
