It appears that Johnson City and Endicott will not share their code enforcement departments with the Town of Union.
Johnson City trustees held off on voting for the resolution Tuesday night after the measure was questioned by several residents, who asked for a public hearing to be held before a vote.
The resolution would have put Johnson City’s three code enforcement officers on the town payroll, which town leaders say would save village taxpayers around $2 per $100,000 of assessed value.
Endicott trustees also failed to vote on the resolution at a meeting on Friday.
The Town of Union wanted an answer from both villages before they vote on their 2011 budget Wednesday.
