Update: Hancock Man Dies in I-81 Motorcycle Accident in Kirkwood

On Wednesday at about noon, New York State Troopers responded to a car/motorcycle accident on Interstate 81 North at the Exit 3 on-ramp in the Town of Kirkwood.
Amrom Lowy, 35, of Monroe, New York, was traveling north on the highway when he stopped in the far right lane of travel.
A motorcycle operated by Frederick Dapice, 63, of Hancock, New York drove into the rear of the stopped vehicle.
Dapice was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.
Broome County Coroner Doctor John C. Prindle responded to the accident scene, pronounced Mr. Dapice deceased, and ordered the body removed to Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City for an autopsy.
Troopers closed one lane of the highway for about two and a half hours while they reconstructed the accident.
Members of the New York State Department of Transportation, Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Five Mile Point Fire Department, and Colesville Ambulance Squad assisted at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
