We have an update for you on the accident that closed Airport Road in the Town of Maine. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 2 car accident at County Airport Road and Commercial Drive just after 10 AM. 61 year old Sharon Stevenson from Laguna, CA was driving westbound when she entered the intersection of Airport and Commercial when 66 year old Franklin Gruber of Vestal also came into the intersection traveling southbound and struck Stevenson’s car on the passenger side. Gruber’s truck continued South and hit a utility pole, shearing it in half. Stevenson had minor cuts while Gruber and a passenger 32 year old Jonathan Gruber also of Vestal were not injured. Stevenson entered the entered the intersection from a stop sign and she was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way. No other charges are expected in the accident. County Airport Road remains closed while NYSEG repairs the damaged pole.
