Power was restored just after 11am for most of the 500 Village of Owego customers that lost their electricity during a severe thunderstorm at around 8:45pm Sunday. The storm brought down trees and large branches across parts of the village, bringing down power lines and poles. Parts of the sidewalk along Main Street were also torn out of the ground by the roots of the old trees as they were knocked down. NYSEG, Verizon, and other crews worked through the night to restore service. We have some photos of the aftermath on Main Street on the WEBO Facebook page.
