Stephanie Nelson is back at the Vestal High School Monday after some time off last week to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The 16-year-old senior was the only one from the area to be picked for the Great American Marching Band; a group made up of more than 200 high school students from across the country.
At Vestal, Stephanie plays clarinet in the concert band, violin in its orchestra and is part of the color guard for the marching band. She is also the president for the VHS Environmental Club and a member of the National Honor Society.
Stephanie and the other members of the marching band had to be in place by 2:30am Thursday for the 84th annual Macy’s Parade in New York City.
