A warrant has been issued for the man accused of taking a 3-year-old Elmira boy last week after he failed to show for a court appearance on Thursday.
Quentin Singletary was originally supposed to be arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child on Wednesday in Elmira City Court, but asked for a delay because of the weather.
He then failed to show on Thursday morning. A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The Elmira mother who allegedly offered her son to Singletary last week as insurance the man would return her vehicle and then reporting her son had been kidnapped is facing the same charge. Stephanie Davila is also accused of violating her probation from a 2008 conviction for obstructing governmental administration.
She remains in the Chemung County Jail while her son and his siblings are at a respite home.
