Wednesday at around 10:30AM, a welcome home party is planned for the 150 soldiers of the Horseheads 827th Engineer Company who have been building a highway in Afghanistan for the past 12 months.
The welcoming celebration will be held in the Sikorsky Hangar at the Elmira Corning Regional Airport, and it is expected that approximately 1000 family members will be on hand to welcome the soldiers home.
The local American Red Cross in partnership with U.S. Veteran Affairs is organizing the event.
Food and beverages will be provided by the Red Cross and the space is donated by Sikorsky.
