Four children witnessed an accident Wednesday morning in which a woman jumped out of the truck in which they were riding and was run over by her husband. Cortland County Sheriffs deputies were called to West Main Street in Cortland just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Officials said Jupina Rice, 38, was fighting with her husband 29-year-old Joshua Rice. At some point in the argument, Jupina jumped out of the moving pick-up truck, according to police. Four children were in the truck when it happened. Deputies say Joshua attempted to provide aid to his wife immediately after she was run over. She was pronounced dead at Cortland Regional Medical Center. Charges were not filed in the incident as of Wednesday evening. The investigation will continue.
