Owego Free Academy Senior Lindsay Field joined us on today’s WEBO Morning Show. Lindsay broke the world Powerlifting record for her age and weight class earlier this month. It all started last spring, when OFA football coach and Phys. Ed. teacher Steve Virkler encouraged her to attend a local weightlifting competition in Norwich. She lifted 390 pounds at that event, and kept lifting, joining the school’s Indian Performance Academy. She broke the state and national records at a lifting event at Tioga Downs before capturing the world title two weeks ago in Erie, PA. At that event, Lindsay dead lifted 380 pounds, shattering the former record. She plans to continue lifting and hopefully break her own record next year. You can hear the full interview below. Lindsay is also the team manager for the OFA football team.
