Meth Lab Busted in Cortland County

On Sunday, the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a chemical smell coming from a residence in the Town of Truxton. An investigation determined that there were items on the premises consistent with the manufacture of Methamphetamine. Police obtained a search warrant and requested assistance from the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team for cleanup and removal of the substances. At the completion of the search, police found several components used for the manufacturing of Methamphetamine (including, lab equipment, solvents, precursors, and reagents), along with Methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, 7 long guns and 1 black powder pistol. 36-year-old Joshua W. Pittsley was arrested and charged with three felonies, including Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Disposal of Meth Lab Material, and Unlawful Manufacture of Meth. Pittsley was arraigned in the Town of Homer Court and will appear in the Town of Truxton Court today. The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be filed.
