For the first time in almost 40 years, Watkins Glen International will host a major music festival that will feature a national recording artist.
The rock band PHISH will host their 9th multiday festival, Super Ball IX this July 1st thru 3rd.
The Glen earned a place in United States musical history as the site of the famed Summer Jam that featured headlining artists The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers and The Band.
Reportedly attracting over 600,000 people to Schuyler County in 1973, Summer Jam held the Guinness Book world record for the largest outdoor concert ever held in the U.S.
Tickets to Super Ball IX go on-sale to the general public on Monday, April 4.
Super Ball IX will be the first time that Phish has ever performed at Watkins Glen International or any other motorsports facility.
The 3-day event weekend will feature a series of performances by the New England-based band along with numerous activities, attractions and art installations.
Tickets start at $200 and include admission for the entire weekend as well as convenient onsite camping.
Additional camping and travel packages will also be available. For additional details, visit www.superballix.com.
