Federal prosecutors want to ban New York State Senator Tom Libous from discussing his cancer during his federal trial next month. Libous faces a felony charge of lying to the FBI about an alleged scheme to use his influence to get his son a job at a Westchester County law firm. Prosecutors filed a motion last week, and said Libous’ medical condition is irrelevant to the case and would only garner sympathy from the jury. Jury selection for Libous’ trial is scheduled to begin July 13 in White Plains federal court.
