Former fugitive and convicted murderer Ralph “Bucky” Phillips has withdrawn his civil lawsuit against two Upstate New York Sheriffs.
Phillips claimed both Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace and Chemung County Sheriff Chris Moss violated his civil rights during Phillips’ incarceration in Mayville and Elmira more than four years ago.
Phillips accused Gerace and Chemung County Sheriff Chris Moss of holding him unfairly in solitary confinement and ordering prison guards to log his every move.
Phillips also claims his personal property was destroyed, he was subjected to retaliatory frisk searches, denied adequate medical attention for serious back pain, and that he was barred from Native American religious rituals that included burning sage.
Before defense attorneys could even file a motion to dismiss the case Phillips announced he was withdrawing his lawsuit.
