New York State Troopers have arrested Jacob Smith, 40, of Glen Aubrey, for Assault in the Second Degree.
Troopers responded to a domestic dispute Tuesday afternoon in the Town of Nanticoke.
Smith had assaulted two people inside the residence.
Both victims had exited the residence – one by escaping through a window, and Smith had barricaded himself inside the residence.
Smith yelled at the troopers to leave and repeatedly told them to shoot him.
Troopers eventually opened the door and were threatened with a large kitchen knife by Smith.
Trooper Seth Little used a Taser, which allowed the troopers to take him into custody without further incident.
Troopers charged Smith with Assault in the Second Degree.
He was remanded to the Broome County Jail with no bail set.
Additional charges are pending.
Members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Environmental Conservation Police, and the Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad assisted at the scene.
